This is Jon Rosen, reporting to you the off season trades made by Los Angeles GM Jason Deblois. From his first trade with family GM Andre Deblois of the Flyers, to his most recent Blockbuster deal with the Avalanche.
So tell me about the acquisitions you have made over the summer?
Sure thing Jon. Firstly I got a call from Andre (PHI GM) about his interest in Michael Backlund. We ended up shipping him out to Philly along with our 2nd round pick for Carl Sodderberg and prospect Austin Czarnik.
Secondly, we gave up a lot of youth in order to pick up immediate needs for our team. From Ottawa we received defenseman Kevin Klein and winger Patric Horqvist. Unfortunately we had to pay a hefty return for them. Ottawa received previously acquired Carl Sodderberg, prospects Mattias Janmark, Sergei Zborovskyi, and top prospect Michael Dal Colle.
Thirdly, in order to bolster our defence, we acquired Matt Greene from the Anaheim ducks in exchange for prospect Mark Jankowski
Lastly comes our biggest deal yet, a blockbuster deal with the Colorado Avalanche. Knowing that the GM of the AVS is a huge Sean Monahan fan, i cast his name in the water with hopes that he would bite... And he did!! LA receives both Jiri Hudler and Clarke MacArthur who will greatly help our team offensively by putting up great numbers. We also acquire at defense the 6'9", 255lb monster with the hardest shot in the league Zdeno Chara. And lastly, we acquire the 6th overall pick from the 2015 NHL entry draft Pavel Zacha. In return for this treasure chest of talent, Colorado receives Sean Monahan, Robyn Regehr, and recently retired Daniel Briere.
There you have it folks, an offence led by Steven Stamkos, a defence led by the 1-2 punch of Phaneuf and Chara, and Steve Mason in nets, LA looks like they are making a big push for the Stanley cup this year... and they very well might get it.
